Thank you for your words of solidarity and support

It was wonderful meeting you all at the Midtown Global Market last weekend. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your words of solidarity and support for the community at the Dar-Al-Farooq Islamic Center. Together, we wrote 230 postcards and decorated 30 coloring pages.

We wrapped them in a box and mailed them to the center. Below is a copy of our letter.

To the community at Dar Al-Farooq,

We stand as neighbors, friends, and family to reject fear, hate, intimidation and violence. Together we can create a positive, inclusive environment, where respect, friendship, and love can grow. Whether through everyday actions, a simple gesture, a kind word, a welcoming place, or the raising of a strong collective voice, we can change the tone, create safer spaces, and better our world.

In this box are 230 postcards and 30 coloring pages expressing support, love and encouragement from our community. They were written in several different languages by people of all ages, faiths, and ethnicities who visited our postcard event at the Midtown Global Market (Saturday, August 12) and a Lake Street pop-up performance (Friday, August 18) sponsored by In the Heart of the Beast Theater and Somali Museum of Minnesota.

We are all still in shock and saddened by the attack on the Dar Al-Farooq Islamic Center and stand with you in solidarity. We thank you for being part of our community -- and for all that you do to make it a better place for all of us.

Please let us know if there are other ways we can help in this situation and any time in the future.

With much love,
All Are Welcome Here
